ASIN

An ASIN is a amazon product identifier that is assigned to every product that is sold on amazon. 

Where Do I Find Amazon ASIN?

The amazon ASIN can be found in a few different places. If you are on the product details page, you can scroll down to the product description and find it in the chart with all of the product information. If you are an amazon seller and have the product for sale, you can find the ASIN in your seller central account under the Inventory Tab

What is a variant ASIN

If you are familiar with parent/child relationships, the variant ASIN is the is the one that is assigned to the child. There is also an ASIN assigned to the parent product as well and sometimes you will need that if you are creating a case in seller central. 

AZ/AMZ/AMZN

BB/Buy Box

The buy box is what you click when you want to purchase something on amazon. Amazon assigns a specific product to the buy box based on a variety of different factors. If you are not winning the buy box, contact us and we can help you understand what you need to do to win back the buy box. 

BOGO

BOGO literally means “Buy-One-Get-One” You can set up BOGO deals on amazon by going to the promotions tab in seller central. 

Brand Registry

Brand Registry is where you get to register your brand with amazon. This gives you more control over your own amazon product listing as the “brand registered owner.”

This also gives you access to Enhanced Brand Content and uploading product videos. In order to take advantage of this, you will need to have a registered trademark, so register your trademark ahead of time if you are a new amazon seller!

Trademark

A trademark is something you register with the USPTO. While you do not need a trademark to sell a product on amazon, having one does allow you to do Enhanced Brand Content, which helps make your product listing look nice and increases your amazon conversion rate. 

BSR

BSR Amazon Meaning 

The BSR literally stands for Best Seller Rating. This number is not a static number. It is constantly changing based on the sales relative to the competition. It is updated regularly with amazon’s algorithm. 

How is Amazon BSR Calculated?

The amazon A9 Algorithm is what calculates the BSR. It takes a variety of factors into its calculation including sales, conversion rate, etc.

Amazon BSR Chart

If you want to see the history of the BSR rating for a product, you will need to install a chrome extension that tracks this data. We like these chrome extensions that show BSR chart data.

Amazon Sales rank is another name for BSR.

Category

Amazon puts each product into a category. It ranks each product in the category base on sales. If you get to be ranked number 1 in the category, you get the Amazon  Best Seller Badge! #lifegoals

COGS stands for ‘Cost Of Goods Sold”

Seller Feedback

Seller Feedback is different from an amazon product review in that the review should be about you, the seller and not about the product. The seller feedback helps amazon customers buy from trusted amazon sellers. 

Amazon Product Review

A product review is specifically shown on the product page of your product. 

Fake Amazon Product Reviews

Amazon has been cracking down on sellers giving their products fake amazon product reviews. This is a black hat technique that is used by unscrupulous sellers to try and get their products to rank higher on amazon. We would never condone our clients to try this. In fact, amazon is cracking down on this practice and has a heavy hand when doling out punishment for this. The bump in rankings is not worth risking having your account banned. 

Amazon Verified Purchase Reviews

Amazon Verified Purchase reviews are reviews whose purchase can be verified by amazon. Amazon gives more weight to the overall start rating of verified reviews. 

FC/Fulfillment Center

FC is just an acronym for “Fulfillment Center”

A fulfillment center is where your inventory is stored and eventually shipped to the end user. 

Amazon Fulfillment Center

The amazon fulfillment centers are specifically managed by amazon. If you send your product to amazons fulfillment centers, you will get the prime badge on those products!

What is Amazon fulfillment center?

Amazons fulfillment centers are located all across the country. These fulfillment centers store and ship your private label products to the amazon customer. 

Where are the Amazon fulfillment centers located?

Amazon’s fulfillment centers are located all across the world. Amazon continues to expand their amazon services to different countries. If you want to sell your products in other countries, you will need to sign up to be sold in that country and have your products shipped to that country’s amazon fulfillment centers. Amazon makes it really easy to do this! 

How do Amazon fulfillment centers work?

  1. You send your product to amazon’s fulfillment centers
  2. They store your product in the amazon fulfillment center until an order is placed
  3. Amazon picks the inventory from its inventory
  4. Amazon Packs your inventory into a box
  5. Amazon ships the product to the end user
  6. Amazon provides customer service and tracking for the order
  7. Amazon handles all returns of these orders

Can I tour an Amazon fulfillment center?

Yes, amazon allows you to tour certain fulfillment centers. You will be amazed at the amount of automation that goes into fulfilling orders that you purchase from their website!

FBA

FBA Stands for Fulfillment By Amazon. 

How much does FBA cost?

FBA has a variety of costs that you can find in their documentation, but lets look at the most common fees they will charge you. They take 15% right from the selling price. Then, they charge a monthly storage fee, and fulfillment fee. These fees vary depending on the size and weight of the product. You can calculate these fees using an amazon FBA Calculator. 

What is the Amazon FBA program?

The Amazon FBA Program is available to amazon sellers who would like amazon to store, fulfill, and provide customer service to orders placed on the amazon platform. 

How does Amazon FBA work?

The detailed intricacies of amazon FBA can’t possibly all be explained in one paragraph, but here it goes…Basically, there are a large system of warehouses operated by amazon. They are massive facilities that use complex automations to efficiently deliver products ordered online to the customer in a very short time (one-day deliveries currently being tested) 

Can you make money on Amazon FBA?

Yes, if you sell physical products online, you can make money of FBA.

FBM

FBA Literally stands for Fulfillment By Merchant. You can choose this option instead of FBA if you would like. This means that you can sell your product on amazon and fulfill it yourself. This requires much more work on your part. Also, you will not receive the prime badge if you choose this option (unless you qualify for “seller fulfilled prime’)

Fulfillment Fee

The Fulfillment Fee is what is charged to the seller by amazon for picking your product out of the warehouse and shipping your product to the customer. (Sometimes referred to as a ‘pick-and-pack’ fee.)

Inventory

Inventory is the amount of product you have available. As an amazon seller, you can manage this inside of amazon seller central. 

ISBN

An ISBN number is a unique identifier for books.

MOQ

Minimum Order Quantity

Why is MOQ important?

When you are negotiating a bulk price from a supplier, you may need to ask what the Minimum order quantity is for that product. Sometimes the supplier will have an MOQ of 1,000 and you are only trying to order 250. In this case, you will either need to negotiate with them, or move onto another supplier. 

How do you negotiate a minimum order quantity?

MSRP

MSRP means Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price. In the case of the Private Label Amazon Seller, in many cases you set the MSRP because you are the manufacturer of the product if you are the brand registered owner. 

Net Profit

What you take home after all of the expenses, fees, and product costs are taken out. 

OA/Online Arbitrage

Online arbitrage is where you purchase products online and then sell it online. This is not a method that we specialize in at The Listing Factory. 

Retail Arbitrage

Retail Arbitrage is where you find deeply discounted products in retail stores and sell them on amazon. You can do this with either FBA or FBM. This method requires a lot of leg work and scanning barcodes at retail stores!

PL/Private Label

This is our favorite method of selling on amazon here at The Listing Factory. This method requires you have a trademark, legal business entity, and you are the owner of all of these. This gives you ‘control’ over the listing on amazon. 

PPC

PPC stands for Pay-Per-Click. As it relates to selling on amazon private label sellers, you will use this as a way to get your product in front of amazon shoppers. We can help you create these campaigns in amazon seller central. 

Campaign
